Fishing report New Port Richey, Tarpon Springs, Clearwater Capt. Rich Knox of Absolute Florida Flats Fishing and guide service reports a exceptional Reef and Wreck fishing bite Friday before the beginning of Tropical storm Isaac's arrival. Father Scott Neff took his son Jordan ( Birthday Gift) fishing, and Ben caught many keeper sized Gag grouper, Red grouper, Bonito, Spanish Mackerel, Grey Snapper , Shark and more on a 1/2 day fishing charter out of Tarpon springs, New Port Richey, Fl. At 1st light they gathered a couple hundred scaled sardine's and then pulled Rich's Bait trap's for a good assortment of Pin-fish Pig-fish, and Grunts. Deep sea fishing from 7 miles to 9 miles off the beach the three kept busy the whole morning till the tide quit around mid-day ! Fishing the bottom for the Groupers and Snappers and flat lines on the surface for the pelagics, in the 5-6 hr. Trip they had all they wanted, and a huge bag of great eating fish filet's. The Nearshore fishing should remain good and only get better as Fall approaches ! Inshore the Red-fishing has been picking up with the passing of Isaac, the water temp's are now in the mid to lower eighties, and the bait hatch returning are a bit larger the Red's are loving it. Snook fishing is good fishing the barrier island's with the larger pilchard's that are caught under the smaller bait.
