Red Fish on fire!

I have got to say that December all the way through today. So many mild winter days with good visibility has made a lot of dreams come through. Beautiful, vibrant colored reds just glowing in the clear winters water. On the cooler days this month I have sight fished some giants for this area. Im talking about sight fishing 12-15 lb. red fish in 10 inches of water with fly rods.{%image_id=18992%} I have been using only one pattern for 6 weeks now and its no top secret pattern. Tan and orange crab patterns with small bead chain eyes. Chris Wilson, from Melbourne Beach, Fl is the angler of the month for just absolutely wearing them out. Not only did he land a 13 lb, 33 inch red but several others all on the first try! If a red showed himself, Wilson caught them. Hell of a fly fisherman!{%image_id=18993%} This has got to be the best year for reds we have had in 15. I swear, this is the only silver lining you can find, due to last years outcome of the big freeze. Their numbers have quadrupled! {%image_id=18996%} Fishing for reds have been so consistent, its hard to put the time in for snook. I have caught several nice fish the last month, but mostly smaller fish. I have seen great numbers of big breeder size females (survivors), but couldn't buy a bite to save my life. Big, smart fish! lol!! Tarpon season is right around the corner and very much looking forward to their return. I know others are as well, for the dates are filling in for this years season. Thanks for taking the time to read this report. Capt. Jeff
