This week's report from Spotted Tail, updated 9/21 Happy Autumnal Equinox to you!! If we were pagans we'd be having a huge party tonight. Not a bad idea... I didn't fish Friday or Saturday so by Sunday I was jonesing. Even though it was pouring and windy Charlie Chapman accompanied me to Port Canaveral. Like two morons we went out in the storm looking for fish. I'd like to say that God rewarded us but he didn't unless you count getting drenched as a reward. I went back to the Port on Tuesday with Tammy D. We saw several schools of jacks and the mullet are definitely along the beach, but the jacks weren't eating and neither was anything else. The ocean was still real dirty from the storm. We pulled the boat out and went to the Indian River. Blind casting she got a slot red on a popper and a 22 inch trout on a spoonfly. My fisherman today was Myron Becker, owner of Chef Myron's Fine Cooking Sauces. They're great products, I highly recommend them. In three hours we saw two reds. I'm sure there were more there but again, the water is high and it was cloudy, making it impossible to see. And what's up with the jacks?? Myron had three good casts to schools of jacks. They all spooked off of his popper. Usually they would just crush it. We ended up with a bunch of ladyfish and one baby tarpon that took a Seaducer. I've got some serious scouting to do the next few days. Fishing is great and I love my work! Capt.
