This week's report on the upper Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon from Spotted Tail, updated 3/10 Now booking TARPON trips for May and June for the SW Florida coast! We did get a few fish this week. Saturday and Monday I fished Greg Ritland, a flycaster from Nevada, in the Indian River. In spite of the tournament and the wind (ferocious) Greg jumped a couple of tarpon and got 10 trout and three reds to 15 pounds. Sunday I fished Ted Lee, a flycaster from Pittsburg, in the Mosquito Lagoon. We got skunked for three hours and then got blown off the water by a nasty storm. Tuesday and Wednesday my fly anglers cancelled because of the windy weather. And it was only 25-30 mph. I'll see both of them next week. Thursday and Friday we took a bad skunking in the Mosquito Lagoon. Novice fly caster Melanie Hyde teamed up with uncooperative fish on Thursday, and uncooperative fish laughed at the presentations of flycaster Walt "Alphabet" Mercencabbage on Friday. The water is still low and clear and the fish have been in an almost uninterrupted funk since the water temps were in the low 50's back in January. They will snap out of it eventually. Fishing is great and I love my work! Capt. John Kumiski www.spottedtail.com
