Fishing can be all about "windows" this time of year. Here on St Simons Island, we don't stock snow shovels and salt, but we still get a good shot from Old Man Winter. But as fronts approach, or pass, we often get those "windows" of nice warmer days. These past 6 weeks of winter 2014, the window was opened wide, with some outstanding catches of trout and redfish. Last weekend (2/9-2/11, 2014) we amassed over 50 redfish and trout, with some real quality fish.{%image_id=37145%} In most cases we threw power fishing out the window, down sized our soft plastics, and worked them very slow. Often, it was only the faintest "tap" that signaled the bite. For those that enjoy finesse fishing, like myself, winter in the marshes of southeastern Georgia really shine!{%image_id=37144%} As of this writing, it looks like we have a good stretch of weather and tides! With quite a few trips scheduled these next few weeks, let's hope Mother Nature keeps the window wide open!
