Stripers and Spots on top early.

Shane Watson Guide Service Report 05-25-11. We've been out everyday and have seen a mix of stripers and spots on our boats. Early mornings,we have caught stripers and spots on Spro Dawgs, Sammie's, Bone Spooks, and on freelined bluebacks. Fish as many points, humps, and reef poles as you can. Up the lake, and after the sun gets up high down the lake, your best bet will be to downline bluebacks 20 to 25 feet deep over a 30 to 35 foot bottom, on and just off points. Capt Mack's 4 arm u-rigs fished 60 feet behind the boat are also producing. We have seen good schooling some mornings and late afternoons on the stripers. Freelined bluebacks and just about any topwater lure will work when casting into these surfacing fish. These surfacing fish have been so aggressive, they are hitting the lure while it is sitting still on the water or just after it starts moving. Overall, the fishing has been good on Lake Lanier. Be flexible and willing to change patterns depending on what you see each morning or afternoon.
