Lake Oconee, Madison Georgia

Water Temp 50 Due to all the rain we have had, the Apalachee and Oconee are heavily stained all the way down to Sugar Creek. The crappie have finally showed up and anglers all over the lake are doing the dance of joy! It has been the toughest crappie season I have witnessed in several years, with all the weather changes and the Sinclair drawdown, but it seems they are getting to their February pattern and there are great days ahead. Just yesterday a friend and I caught our limit of huge fish, all before lunch time! I haven’t seen a day like that in some time. The fish are in Sugar Creek, the Apalachee and around the Redlands at Oconee. We are catching them on our usual spider rig system, and it seems like they really love the black/blue, black/purple jigs and you can catch them trolling on the edge of the channels. The hybes are doing very well and even though they haven’t showed up at the dam, they are in their usual hiding places. A lot of anglers are pulling sassy shads in the mouth of Richland Creek and around the flagpole and are picking up some nice fish. You can find them also in LSM and around some deeper points close to the dam. It is about to break wide open here on Oconee! Hope you get to go! doug
