Water temp is 89 degrees It is that time of the year when things slow down everywhere on the lake..........except for the tailrace. It is the Bristol Bay Brawl of striper fishing on Lake Oconee and it takes place every year when the fish began looking for cooler, oxygenated water. The tailrace of Wallace Dam, which is actually Lake Sinclar, brings some really big stripers and the action can be non stop. Using live shad we downline in the surf, working the bait just like you would do with a plastic worm in a farm pond. When the striper hits, it is like hooking into a nascar, line strips, the drag screams and the fish get down in the swift water. A three pounder feels like a ten and it is never unusual to get a double, even a triple on the boat. By far it is the most exciting time of fishing on the Lake and it is going on right now.
