Get out early before it's too hot!

Matlacha

24 Aug 2016 Get out early before it's too hot! August has been darn good for fishing. Reds have been out on the flats schooling on an incoming tide in Matlacha and Pine Island sound and I'e been catching them on white bait, Pins and cut ladysfish. Fish the mangroves on the higher tides on points where there is decent water movement. Mangrove snapper have been big and plentiful in almost every deep pocket next to the mangroves or on the flats in 3-5' of water. Plenty of seatrout action in matlacha most averaging between 14-18" and in Pine Island sound averaging 15"-22" in deep grassy areas. The afternoon rains have helped keep the water temp down in the mid to upper 80's and boiling over 91 in the afternoon and thats when the bite shuts of until early evening when the afternoon showers cool it back down and the bite picks back up. This time of year I am not booked solid so if your ready to skip a day of work I am ready for short notice and next day trips. WIth the tropical storm headed our way sunday thru tuesday the day before the front gets here should be really good fishing. Along with about two to three days after it passes while the waters have cooled and fish adjusted to the new lower water temps. Dont forget Snook opens up September 1st. So book your trip with me. Check out my Facebook page for recent pictures and trips. If you're ready to go fishing give me a call to plan your trip so we can try and catch the tides right. If you're a Veteran with proof I have the best prices around and I guarantee it. I'm also on Facebook at Jimbo's Charters where I post pictures if my clients let me and my website www.Jimboscharters.com Captain Jim 239-671-4692
