Great bite off Anna Maria

Anna Maria

The kingfish bite is still going strong in thirty to forty foot of water over hard bottom. Mostly school fish in the eight to twelve pound class with the odd twenty pounder showing up. Nice mangrove snapper in the two to four pound class have shown up as well. They are taking our free lined baits set up for kings. On windy days the trout and spanish mackerel bite is the best I have seen in a long time. Every trip we are getting a few four and five pound trout. With limits of fish that fall in the slot. The catch and release snook fishing has picked up also. I am very happy to see we still have this great game fish. I still think it is going to take a few more seasons for the fishery to make a full recovery. Redfish in the area are still scattered. I have managed to catch fish mainly on the higher stages of the tide up next to oyster bars. Good Fishing! Capt. Rick Gross sarasotafishingwithrick.com
