Great Lake Lanier Striper Fishing

Lake Lanier

Striper fishing on Lanier has been great. Some days we have been catching some really good numbers. The days we are catching numbers, the fish are out over the channel feeding on schools of bait 30 feet down on a 90-120 foot bottom. When the fish are in this pattern the schools of fish we are finding are huge. Double hook ups are a common occurrence this time of year. Knowing where the tree lines are and schools of bait are are critical to finding these fish. On most days this week the fish are more active in the afternoon. However, we are still catching them in the morning. The fish are in different places making them slightly more difficult to catch. The down-line bite has been hard to beat. But the lead core bite is a close second. 6-9 colors with a 1 oz flash foil buck tail has been producing well for us. Fishing should be at it's best through August. The best fishing has been south of browns bridge to the dam. Spotted bass fishing has also been great on brush piles in 20-30 feet of water. The drop shot rig has been producing some great numbers of spots for us. Catching Spots on ultra light spinning gear is a lot of fun. We are open all day. Call 678-634-3408 to get hooked up on this summer down-line bite. To see some pictures of this weeks catches swing by www.gettinluckyfishing.com and click on the reports tab. See you on the water.
