Great Striper Fishing on Lake Lanier.

Lake Lanier

Shane Watson Guide Service Report 7-5-12. The striper fishing on Lake Lanier has been great the last 2 weeks. We have had many 20 to 30 striper catch and release mornings on downlined bluebacks and leadcore. The last week the leadcore bite has been on fire. This is the earliest, strongest leadcore bite I've seen in many years. White foil or chartresuse 1 oz Capt Mack's jigs tipped with a Basstrix or Shadalicious tail 9 colors out has been best. Live bluebacks tipped on these jigs is also working well. There are stripers in the mouths of creeks and out over the main channel from River Forks to the Dam. Downlines fished from 30 to 70 feet deep over a 100 foot bottom have also been strong. This is a great time of the year to take a kid or new fisherman out. The stripers are biting well both morning and afternoons. Please visit our Twitter page to get daily fishing reports and photos as the action happens. Don't let the heat bother you, the stripers are down in the colder water. Hot weather and boat traffic doesn't bother them when they are deep in the summer. We were catching them 2 at a time today while dodging jet skis and cruisers. This report is brought to you by Shane Watson Guide Service, Hammond's Fishing Center, Carolina Skiff Boats, and Batteries Plus. We Appreciate Your Business and Good Fishing.
