It is looking like we will be having one of the best speckled trout years we have had in ages. I have been catching them in good numbers on all my trips this month. We have a lot of fish right now that are just hitting the 14 inch minimum length, and will certainly have an opportunity to have plenty of keepers as we move through the next two months. I had a client catch one that pulled the boga grip scale down between 5 and 6 pounds a couple of weeks ago. That is a really nice trout for our area. Most have been caught on shrimp or Vudu shrimp under popping corks. As our water temps fall we will start fishing deep creeks throwing soft plastics on jig heads, and should have a banner season. This is my favorite way to fish them, and I am excited to get going.
