Gulf Shores family fishing during Spring Break

Gulf Shores

{%image_id=8353%} The weather is beautiful with temps in the mid to upper 70's. The water is warming and the bite is improving. There are still a few bull redfish around. The Spanish mackerel should appear just any day. Small spoons trolled slowly are your best bet for catching Spanish mackerel. Sheepshead are being caught around the rocks at the pass and live shrimp is the best bait. Catching these fish are a blast on light tackle. Cobia should arrive in a a couple of weeks. Hang into one of these fish weighing 30, 40 or even a 100 pounds. Talking about a fight. You can see, the nearshore bite is about to happen. Offshore bottomfishing is good with catches of vermillion snapper, white snapper, triggerfish, amberjack and scamp. Plan a full day for these trips. Bottomfishing is good about 20 miles offshore for vermillion snapper, white snapper, triggerfish and a king mackerel or two. It is March, it is spring break, it is fishing and it is fun.
