January 2013 Fishing Report

Salinas

We began 2013 with a bang in Salinas. Excellent fishing and great weather are the perfect combination. We have enjoyed the company of folks from NY, Florida, Texas and even from New Mexico. All of them fishing for several days with us. The weather is perfect with a light chop 1 to 3 feet. Water temperature 76 to 78 degrees. The fishing has been close in due to the Humboldt current bringing bait and clear water to Salinas We have been fortunate with Wahoo to 80lbs and Large Mahis, Stripped Marlin and what we have been waiting for,… our Blue Marlin run. We lost a large Black about 10 miles off shore after an hour-long fight. When we were fishing with our friends from NY, we lost two very large Blues in the 600 to 700 lbs. range but that is why we call it fishing, not catching Tight lines Capt.
