July Report

Penobscot Bay

We have had our share of water this season. I have been spending most of my time in ponds and lakes instead of streams and rivers. Water temps are down this year. Lakes are in the low 70's and should be higher. This is great for fishing salmon and such. Lakes and ponds have been giving up some lakers, browns, splake and a few other fish as well. Trolling has been the way to go. Large and small mouth bass fishing has been slow this year. These fish seemed to have moved off of their beds early this year. I think is was due to cold water and lots of rain. Salt water fishing has been slow also. Usually by the 4th of July we are catching mackeral by the bucket full but not this year.
