June 2016 Forecast

Lake Hartwell

Water temperature: 74 Water level: full pool Fishing has been good for hybrids and stripers very shallow in the early morning. It ends pretty quickly when the Sun gets high. Then we have been concentrating on Kentucky spotted bass and largemouth bass as they stay shallow. It should get better as we transition in to June. The thermocline starts to push stripers and hybrids to deeper water first. Then they migrate down toward the lower Lake as the thermocline pushes them to better water quality. Free lined Herring transitions to down lining Herring with a 1 1/2 oz. Weighted Carolina rig. Casting jigs and flukes transitions to fishing them vertically. The bait has to be at the fishes depth. Largemouth and Kentucky spots are still shallow and will stay shallow throughout June. They are not afraid to stay shallow in the bright sun of midday. By later in the month, offshore structure becomes more reliable for bass. {%image_id=48415%} Picture is of Capt.
