Kennebec River / Casco Bay Fishing Report June 15th, 2015 Conditions: Water temps are slowly climbing into the mid 60s up river. The beaches are in the mid 50s to low 60s. Full moon this week will cause lots of tide and current. Bait the fish are feeding on: Juvenile Atlantic herring, sand eel, river herring, eel Fishing Tactics: Stripers have been feeding on the surface during the outgoing tides. Watch for bait and birds. My fly fishing tip of the week: Smaller more realistic flies are producing in the lower Kennebec. Upriver try larger flies with bold colors. My spin fishing tip of the week: Use small metal or plastic swim baits in the lower river and larger bright colored jigs upriver right now.
