Well it has been a great few months fishing and it is only going to get better as the days start getting shorter here and the fish start feeding up large. We've had a great run of kingfish, mainly caught jigging the offshore seamounts and pinnacles around the Aldermen Islands. The fish are fat and biting hard, hitting jigs with ferocity. {%image_id=8371%} Plenty of tasty puka have been succumbing to jigs as well and these are very tasty table fish. {%image_id=8369%} There are still plenty of gamefish around, with a red hot bite in the Whitianga Classic and One Base tournaments run over the last fortnight. A bonus has been a run on fat albacore to keep everyone occupied in between the marlin bites. {%image_id=8370%} We recently fished the NZBGFC NZ Nationals and managed to take out line class honours in 15kg, 10kg and 8kg line classes for kingfish, as well as top New Zealand team overall for kingfish and most tag and released kingfish (183 in a week!). {%image_id=8367%} A bonus for the week was also taking out the 10kg line class for snapper, this one took a whole live trevally destined for a kingfish. {%image_id=8368%}
