The Striper fishing has slowed down a little bit. There is little consistency in the pattern this time of year. In the mornings Stipers can be found on the south end of the lake, schooling, terrorizing blue back herring. In this situation there is only about a one minute window to throw a top water, or a buck tail jig to these schooling fish. If you hit it right hold on catching these fish on spinning gear is a blast. I'm also pulling them in here and there on flat lines over tree lines that come up to about 20 feet below the boat. However, pulling these monsters out of the trees is another challenge. When it hits about 10:00 the down line comes back into play, and the bite still remains consistent at 30-40 feet below the boat. This time of year you have to be ready for anything. Spotted bass fishing has been on fire. I've been pulling in huge numbers, all over reef markers. Throwing top water in the morning and switching it up to crank baits once the sun is up. Also drop shotting certain plastics in, around, and near brush piles is also producing.
