Lots of fish south of Chokoloskee Island

Chokoloskee

This past week we had some really good fishing to the south of Chokoloskee Island. All week on the low incoming tide phases we fished around the oyster bars catching some really nice redfish, some large seatrout and a few nice sized flounder. As the tide rose, we moved towards the river mouths where we were continued to catch a few redfish and a few snook. It's good to see that the big freeze did not kill all the snook. Fishing with my friend Denny Newnam on Thursday, we found several nice tripletail around the markers and then ran offshore. There were a few permit on the surface when we arrived at our first spot, however we could not get them to eat our crabs. We caught 8 really nice seatrout, having to pull one of them out of the mouth of a jewfish and lost one cobia in the anchor line. The sharks got out of hand, not allowing us to land a fish so we moved on.
