Lots of Fishing Action - Capt. Tom

Anna Maria

Fishing has been superb the last few weeks and should continue throughout the fall. Redfish numbers have been very good on the stronger tides. All mangrove areas from Port Manatee to New pass have harbored schools of reds. Snook have been feeding well closer to the passes. Early morning and late evening have had the better bite. Trout have been mainly in the 14-16 inch range over deep grass. The larger trout will begin to show as the water cools. Kings have started their fall migration. We are catching lots of schoolie kings in the 4-6 pound range. The smokers are close and should be here after the next coldfront. Plenty of big Spanish mackerel are feeding at any structure in the bay or gulf. They are averaging about 4 pounds. Mangrove snapper are rallying around the skyway bridge and feeding on shrimp and small sardines. Tom Chaya {%image_id=34957%}
