Catching and Breaking For the past couple of weeks we have been fishing the Midnight Lump. Most of you can probably tell that it is one of the best fishing spots in the world from my other reports. The fishing down here in Venice, La. couldn't be better and the weather has been cooperating very good. A lot of big fish have been coming of the lump this year. An average day on the Midnight Lump is 4-8 Yellowfin Tuna and 6-12 Blackfin Tuna. As the season gets later we will start catching Wahoo. A good Wahoo day is 4-9 Wahoo with an average weight of 60lbs. Most of the Yellowfin Tuna have been between 80 to 190lbs. The Blackfin tuna have all been between 15 and 25lbs. with an occasional 30-35lber. We also catch a lot of Amberjack and Beeliner Snapper by accident on the lump. Most of the Amberjack are keepers and so are the snapper. The fishing doesn't get much better than that. We are catching all the fish except the wahoo chumming menhadden and bonita. Some days we are hand feeding the tuna right next to the boat. Till next time, Capt. Damon McKnight/Super Strike Charters
