Low Water Flow

San Juan River

Hello Everyone, Fishing has been awesome. Yesterday had over eight hook-ups and five released on dries in the am in sand hole. All nice rainbows from 18-21". The nymphing has been a good bite. Today my client probably hooked around a couple dozen or so and netted about 15. The smallest about 14". The water is off colored and visibility is around three feet. Lots of moss in late am and afternoon. This is caused by all the waders kicking up the bottom. The high water caused the moss to really grow. Now that the water is down all that moss is dying and breaking loose. Be prepared to clean flies before every cast so your not wasting your time with moss fouled flies. The fish can't make out the silhouette of your flies, they won't bite. Catch and release area the fish have been eating black midges #22-26, natural shammy leeches#16-18, and orange sparkle san juan worms#18. Cable hole to Texas hole, what the fish have been eating for me is the same as above but also chocolate foam wings #22. Texas hole to gravel pit, pheasant tails #20-22,chocolate foam wings and black crystal wing midges #22-26, #16-20 red larva's. The lake bite is still good for bass on top water, and the carp bite is happening. Tight Lines, Mark
