Lowcountry Nearshore Reefs and Wrecks on Fire

Beaufort

Had a couple of trips this week where the seas were nice and we were able to go offshore comfortably. We fished two artificial reefs that are only 2 to 3 miles offshore. And they were loaded up with fish. Sheepshead to 6 pounds, weakfish, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, black drum, red drum, and tons of black sea bass were abundant. Both days we cracked the 100 fish mark. We used a variety of baits, including fiddler crabs, dead shrimp, live mud minnows, and a bucktail tipped with a Gulp Swimming Mullet. Everything produced fish. We were in 40 to 50 feet of water, and these were more "catching" trips than "fishing" trips. Tons of fun. {%image_id=42929%} {%image_id=42928%} Capt.
