Fish Still Spotty After Heat Wave The worst of the heat wave seems to be over. Daily highs for this week are forecast in the high 80's, but with heat index numbers over 100. That's better than the last few weeks when we felt heat index temps around 115 degrees. There have been very few fish caught in the river and marshes in the last month (that I know of anyway). There have been a few catches of reds, but seemingly just by accidentally running into a school. When you go back to the same spot the next day they are gone. There have been some reports of speckled trout catches off the front beach on live bait. I have not been in on that because I have stubbornly continued to fish the river marshes trying to relocate those fish. The good news is that since the fishing turned off I have not taken out any charters. I will start back up again within the next week or so as the fall pattern develops. Be sure to get your September or October dates booked. It's really the best time of year to fish.
