Still Here, But What A Mess... I will be the first to say I am lucky to be here and to still have a home to live in and a boat to fish from. Many of my friends and family all along the coast were not that lucky. Hurricane Katrina devastated the entire Mississippi coastline on August 29th, crushing homes and scattering their parts all over the land and marshes. Boats of all sizes broke free during the storm and were left in some very awkward positions in places they don't belong. Although I have not been back on the water yet, I am seeing some encouraging signs that this will be a good fall for fishing. The river and bayous appear to be in very good shape. The storm surge pushed in a lot of sea water and schools of menhaden are everywhere now. Even better, I see speckled trout feeding in the menhaden every evening around sunset. I know this is not much of a fishing report, but I just wanted to let you all know I am still in business and will be booking trips soon. More to come soon...
