Today I had Kevin Close of Texas aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and once again we had to fish in cold and rough conditions, as well as muddy water. {%image_id=8887%} Kevin Close of Texas with a huge bull redfish he caught off the Katrina Reef while fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS. Photo by Capt. Robert L. Brodie Fished a number of spots before we ended up at the Katrina Reef, and there a bite turned on with white trout and ground mullet. The water was so rough and churned it was a wonder anything could find the bait on the bottom, but Kevin managed to boat 20 or so of the tasty fish. However, the highlight of the trip came when Kevin hooked into a huge redfish that cut him off on the rocks, and then a while later hooked into another brute. Picked up the anchor this time and followed the big fish in the rough seas for a half a mile from the reef before the big red was netted. On 10-pound-test Yo-Zuri Hybrid line and a 7-foot St. Croix "Triumph" Rod, well, Kevin had a blast battling the big fish in rough seas. Yes...it was a tough day on the water, but once again a big fish addeded excitement to the trip, and saved the day. Fish are out there folks we just need the winds to settle, and all sorts of fish will be filling the ice chests.
