Barrier Islands Turning On! The winds finally settled down a bit, and it led to a run to Mississippi's gorgeous barrier islands. {%image_id=9174%} There, we found nice redfish, as well as a few fine Florida pompano prowling the shallows. Bluefish and a small cobia added to the action too! These were the first pompano of 2009 put aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS, and it was a fine feeling to box some of those tasty and hard fighting fish. As you recall we didn't start fishing them until late June, but we'll get after them early this year form here on out. Also, we made a stop at one of the oyster reefs merely 5 minutes from the D'Iberville Marina launching site, and 25 white trout were quickly put in the box. Final tally, 4 big bull reds, 3 Florida pompano, some bluefish, a small cobia, and 25 white trout. And the beauty of it all is that it's just starting to get cranked up here in south Mississippi. So gather your family or friends and enjoy some great light tackle (inshore, near shore, or barrier island) fishing aboard TEAM BRODIE CHARTERS. Regards, Capt. Robert L.
