Ran a trip last Wednesday with David Alcorn from Jacksonville, FL, and David got a good dose of outh Mississippi white trout fishing. {%image_id=12008%} David got to catch them over shallow oyster reefs using popping corks on the first part of the trip with live shrimp for bait, and then on the second half of the outing caught some nice fish using bottom rigs and chunks of cut menhaden fished on the bottom off a channel edge. Yeah, it was another hot bite, and David was able to box 101 white trout, as well as 2 black drum. More wind kept us inshore, but the light tackle bite on the silver-hued trout kept the action non stop. David went back home with 6.5 quart bags full of boneless tasty fillets, and will have a great fish fry back in Jacksonville. Looks like I've got another nice run of trips coming up to finish off the month, and the weather is looking good too. Many of those trips will be geared to catching Florida pompano and redfish at the barrier islands. This is a great time of year for fishing the barrier islands, so book your trip from now through October before the weather gets to cold for the pompano.
