Unreal Rain Fall Creating a Slow Down!

The local rivers are at flood stage, due to a massive rainfall late friday night. Local rivers are 3-4 feet out of their banks causing a lot of residential flooding. I'm blessed to be right at the edge of the flooding during these seasonal periods leaving the "Home Port" high and dry. The river estuaries will be a little messed up for a while. This massive influx of fresh water will have salinity levels falling to low levels our saltwater species do not particularly like. So, the outside reefs and islands will be the destination of choice for now. The groundmullet and white trout are still present on the outside reefs, and a few speckle trout and flounder are being pulled form Deer and Cat Island. Though the water at the islands is a little cloudy on the surface, it is as clear as ever a half dozen inches below. This time of year, pick your day, do your homework for location, and a nice mess of fish is still possible with these less than ideal conditions.

Tight Lines,

Capt. Charles Damiens
