Reds Schooling

We are catching a lot of reds in 6 to 12 feet of water along the river banks. About half of the reds are in the 6 to 8 pound range. The rest of them are 16 to 17 inchers that are too short to keep, but that is a good sign for fishing to come. The catches have come on either cocohoe jigs or live bait. Either one works well when you get in a school. Typically in February the reds will start moving up on the flats, depending on whether or not we get any severe cold weather. If we get the cold weather it may be March before they move shallow.
