High Adventure Fishing Report 1/17/07 Well we are finally making ice now! This latest cold snap is locking up the area lakes and ice fisherman will soon have big smiles on their faces. On the salmon river steelhead are scattered from top to bottom, but with this cold weather has most of the river is full of slush. You will have to concentrate your efforts in the upper end of the river, The Schoolhouse and the wire pool has been fishing real good with a mix of dark and silver fish. Blue eggs and small pink and chartreuse flies are doing the job there. The water on the Oswego River just won't go down. 16,000 cfs is still very high and with all the ice on the banks it is very dangerous. Please use extreme caution if you plan on fishing the rivers or streams this week. Keep an eye on the river levels as I would expect them to drop fast this week and when they do, there will be plenty of fish ready to cooperate.
