Today is Monday May 7, 2012. Fishing in all of the waters of Orleans County has really come alive over this past week. On the Erie Canal at the wide waters catches of both Large and Small mouth Bass, Carp, Catfish and Northern Pike are being reported. All along the canal good catches of Rock bass are being taken. Glenwood Lake fishermen are seeing good catches of Rock bass, Crappie and Catfish. On Lake Alice both Crappie and Bluegill numbers are on the increase. Both on Johnson Creek and at the point on Oak Orchard River good catches of Perch are again being taken. On Lake Ontario, with the lake starting to warm, fishing is beginning to spread out somewhat. There are still some Brown trout still being taken in the shallower waters. The rest of the fish species have started their move to slightly deeper water. The hot area seems to be anywhere from 90 to 150 feet of water and the best action is spoons off downriggers. Although the action on the Chinook salmon have slowed slightly, there are still good numbers of all of the species being taken. With the LOC Spring Derby in full swing there are several fish that have been caught from the waters off Orleans County on the leader board. Come join the fishing fun that is abundant in the waters of Orleans County. Let's make everyday a great fishing day, Right here in Orleans County.
