Today is Wednesday July 10, 2013. The Erie Canal Derby is well on its way and ends this coming Sunday, July 14th. There are fish entered in every category and you can check the leader board at www.eriecanalderby.com. The daily rain this week is keeping water levels up on all of the tributaries and smaller lakes within Orleans County. Lake Alice is very active with both Bluegill and Crappie just off shore around brush piles and other structure. All of the inland waters are producing great numbers of Bass, both Large and Smallmouth. On Lake Ontario, the lake partially flipped again earlier this week but is starting to settle down again. Let's hope that the weather stabilizes and allows the lake to fully set up. Right now good mixtures of fish are being taken around the 27 line, but reports are that conditions and down temperatures are constantly changing. A cold front is supposed to pass through our area on Thursday which will allow the humidity and temperature to decrease. Temperatures are supposed to increase from Friday on but the humidity should remain low. Don't forget to check the leader board for the Summer LOC Derby at www.loc.org. From the 2013 Ultimate Fishing Town, Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
