Oak Orchard

Lake Ontario

Today is Wednesday June 25, 2014. First let me apologize for not posting a report last week. Last Tuesday we had a wind event that some say came close to 100 miles per hour and caused a great deal of damage around us. Many of us were without power for over a day and some are still trying to clean up the damage from the storm. Well with Bass season finally open you would think that limit catches would be the rule but seems to be the exception on all the inland waters within Orleans County. On Lake Alice they are still taking a fair catch of Crappie at the Kenyonville Bridge along with a few Bluegills and fair catches of Bass for those who work at it. On Lake Ontario fishing has been on the slow side with water temperatures on the cold side and with the thermo cline not even close to being set up. The LOC leader board seems to reflect the same conditions all over Lake Ontario. The best fishing that I have heard about is occurring between 100 and 200 feet of water but in the top 60 feet. If we can get a week or so of stable weather I believe that we will see a dramatic change in the fishery for the better. On Oak Orchard River catches of Perch, Northern pike and Bass are being reported. From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the 2013 World fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
