Today is Monday April 16, 2012. All the repairs appear to be completed on the section of the Erie Canal in our area and the refilling process has begun. On Glenwood Lake Crappie are still being taken but in reduced numbers. On Lake Alice both Crappie and Bluegills are being caught at both of the bridges. Perch are still being taken both at the Point on the Oak and in Johnson Creek. On Lake Ontario Brown trout are still being taken in good numbers when stained water conditions exist. Black and Silver stick baits off the planner boards and Candy Corn spoons off the riggers are still very good setups. When the near shore waters clear some are still doing well on the browns by lengthening out their leads to get the lures out of the area around the boat. The second area of Lake Ontario that has become active is the 80 to 100 foot of water area. Riggers 30 to 50 feet down and dipsy divers 120 to 140 feet back are catching both Chinook salmon and Lake trout. Some of the patterns mentioned are Golden spooks and Gold Mag. 42 Second spoons then white & green flashers with blue flies. Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
