Oak Orchard

Lake Ontario

Today is Monday June 11, 2012. The Third Annual Condor Tournament was held this past Friday followed by the 7th Annual Orleans County Pro-Am Tournament. Great fishing and good weather was enjoyed by all the participants, well at least those who placed well in both events. The magic numbers that I heard at the weigh-ins and awards ceremony was around 200 feet of water with spinners and fliers doing most of the damage. Winners also shared that the wire dipsys and copper setups seemed to be the best with the dipsys back 230 to 260 feet. Congratulations to all of the winners and thank you all of our sponsors and participants for another successful tournament. We hope to see all of you back again next year. On the inland waters within Orleans County, all reports seem to suggest that Bass fishing was great wherever you were. On Lake Alice big Crappie were being taken from the Kenyonville Bridge and good sized Bluegills were being caught just about everywhere. The Erie Canal seems to be producing larger than normal size fish for this time of year in all of the species. Glenwood Lake seems to be the only spot in Orleans County that is experiencing a slight drop-off in both numbers and size of fishing being taken. On Oak Orchard River at the Point some very good size Northern Pike are being taken along with some good sized Walleyes at night. Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
