Oak Orchard

Lake Ontario

Today is Monday November 5, 2012. To those who suffered the full brunt of Hurricane Sandy, our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of great struggle for you. Here in Orleans County we are very lucky that the effects of that storm were very slight by comparison. Actually the rain that Sandy brought actually benefited our tributaries by increasing water flow. All of the tributaries within Orleans County are flowing at a moderate to slightly high level with water clarity slightly stained. Very good numbers of both Brown and Steelhead/Rainbow trout are present in all of our tributaries with an occasion Coho salmon showing up. With the water being slightly stained, Orange and Chartreuse colors seem to be the best but they do not totally dominate the colors that are catching fish. Egg patterns or actual eggs seem to be the predominant patterns but again not the only pattern that is catching fish. Crappie fishing at the Waterport Bridge is still producing some very good catches even with the unfavorable weather. At the Bridges area of the Oak medium to good catches of Perch, Rock bass and Crappie are being taken. Let's make every day a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
