Today is Monday November 26, 2012. Well last week proved to be very interesting with the emergency shutdown of the Power generating plant on the "Oak". Add to that the delay of releasing Erie Canal water and the lack of precipitation which caused us to have some of the lowest water flows on the "Oak" that I have seen in recent years. As of today the Erie Canal Corp. is going to start draining the canal again which should give us some increased water flow in a day or two. The problem is that without some significant precipitation, this will be a short term fix. Even with all of this, fishing on the "Oak" has been great considering the existing conditions. Both Brown and Steelhead trout seem to be present in decent numbers. Perch on the lower stretches of the "Oak" are spotty. On the other tributaries within Orleans County water levels are very low but still contain some active fish. Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
