Oak Orchard

Lake Ontario

Today is Monday December 10, 2012. The rain of the past few days should keep the tributaries within Orleans County at a low fishable level and add some color to the tributaries that were running clear. The smaller tributaries seem to be the best bet right now with Johnson Creek doing well with both Brown trout and Steelhead trout all the way up, past Blood Road to the Dam at Lyndonville showing fresh fish. Brown trout and Steelhead fishing on the "Oak" is still producing some good numbers of fresh fish all the way to the dam. With the stained water showing on all of the tributaries, the color patterns should revert to the Chartreuse and Orange patterns as well as the darker Wooly Bugger patterns. Perch fishing around the area of the Yacht Club on the "Oak" seems to be picking up with catches of around 50 to 60 keepers being reported. There hasn't been much traffic on and around Lake Alice for Bluegills or Crappie this month but maybe now that the rifle portion of deer season has ended some will again try their luck. Let's make every day and great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
