Today is Wednesday January 2, 2013. In order to have the fishing report have more relevance for the upcoming weekend, I will be doing the report on Wednesday from now on. The long range forecast thru the upcoming weekend call for below freezing temperatures at night and temperatures in the low 30's during the day. Also there is the possibility of lake effect snow each day. On the smaller tributaries within Orleans County, flows are low and clear with the possibility of icing thru the end of the week. On the "Oak" water flows are also low and clear but both Brown trout and Steelhead/Rainbow trout are being caught in the deeper pools. Fishing pressure has been light but those who are fishing are reporting 8 to 10 hook-ups per day with a just about even split between Browns and Steelhead/Rainbows. The ice on both Glenwood Lake and Lake Alice is not yet thick enough to support Ice fishermen but that may change by the end of the week with the predicted colder weather. For the fly fishermen in the area, please remember that ice is indeed forming on the shorelines which will cause slippery conditions. Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
