Today is Wednesday, February 06, 2013. Temperatures will remain below freezing until the end of the upcoming weekend and the first part of next week when the temperatures will go into the 40's. On Johnson Creek there are sporadic open water spots all the way to the Lyndonville Dam. Right now there is open water from the Dam on Oak Orchard North to past the Archer's Club and also from the East side launch ramps to the point. Water flows are at the moderate levels with one foot visibility in most areas. There is ice build-up along the shorelines so please be extra careful when entering and exiting the water. Fishermen are still getting mixed catches of Brown trout and Steelhead/Rainbow trout using a wide variety of baits including both live and artificial baits. With limited visibility Orange and Chartreuse should be the preferred colors. Perch fishing is picking up slightly from the bridges area of the "Oak" to the Point where you can find open water. At this point I would have to say that the ice fishing season is on hold, especially with the warm up next week. Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
