Oak Orchard

Lake Ontario

Today is Wednesday, May 15, 2013. The weather for the rest of the week is supposed to be more spring like with the possibility of rain towards the weekend. It appears that the cold water that was pushed in by the continual North East wind of the past week is finally leaving us. The clear water along the shoreline means that most of the fishing is taking place somewhat deeper. Reports from today seem to target the 30 to 40 foot area and then the 100 feet plus area. Both areas are producing a good mixed bag of fish. On the tributaries and inland smaller lakes within Orleans County, fishing for the warm water species is on the rise. Lake Alice is still producing good numbers of Bluegills at both of the bridges. On Oak Orchard River, the area from the bridges to the Point is producing a broad variety of the warm water species as is Johnson Creek. Please remember that the opening day of Bass season is the 3rd Saturday of June so right now it is catch and immediately release. Lastly we still have our Chinook salmon in the pens which need to be fed several times a day. Please stop by Lake Breeze Marina and sign up for a feeding or 2. The fishermen and the fish will be grateful. Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County
