Today is Wednesday May 29, 2013. The Rains of the past several days should contribute to the flows in all of the tributaries within Orleans County. It should also cause some muddy or stained water in those tributaries and that should trigger the Bullhead and Catfish bite. For some reason fishing on the Erie Canal is off to a slow start but again the rains of the past few days may trigger that fishery. On Lake Alice there are good reports of Bluegill and Crappie catches and Large Mouth Bass but remember that Bass season does not open until the third Saturday in June so practice catch and immediately release on all Bass. On the lower stretches of Oak Orchard River reports are of a variety of warm water fish being taken. Now for the Lake Ontario report. With the Niagara Pro-Am Tournament taking place this weekend (June 1&2) and the then Orleans County Pro-Am Tournament taking place next weekend (June 8&9) you can imagine everyone is closed mouthed and not very willing to give out any information. The only report that I have received is that there are active fish in the 80 to 100 foot range. I'm sure that if someone does a North and South troll they will find the correct level to fish at. Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
