Oak Orchard

Lake Ontario

Today is Wednesday September 4, 2013. It's amazing how right after Labor Day the temperature gets on its rollercoaster ride. For the rest of the week and into next week the temperature will be into the low 60s and then into the high 70s. On Lake Alice Bluegill fishing is spotty with the best catches being taken in the early morning timeframe. By the Waterport Bridge Crappies are being taken in some decent numbers. On the upper reaches of the Oak above Lake Alice those drifting with canoes and kayaks are doing fairly well on Smallmouth bass. Below the dam to the Point on the Oak Bass fishing is spotty, Perch are picking up right at the Point and Northern pike are still present. Also at the Point some are taking an occasional Salmon late evening and early morning. Fishing for the cold water species on Lake Ontario is still good and moving closer to shore each week. Right now the 100 to 200 foot range seems to be the most active with fish being taken 80 to 100 feet down. The time is not far off for the tributary fishing season to get into high gear so dust off the fly rods, center pin reels and spinning gear for another great season. From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the 2013 World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
