Today is Wednesday September 18, 2013. The cooler weather has attracted some Chinooks into the Oak but not a great number yet. Some fishermen are doing fair fishing from the jetties at the Point using Cleo's and Moonshine casting lures. The boaters are still catching a few near the piers early morning and late evening and then the rest of the time moving off shore to find active fish. On the tributaries within Orleans County both Large and Smallmouth bass are still active along with Northern pike. On Lake Alice both Bluegill and Crappie are on the upswing both at the Waterport and Kenyonville bridges. Of course the Erie Canal still has a great mixture of warm water species available. With the fall stream fishing season getting closer this may be a good time to think about safety when wading the streams. Always be aware of your surroundings in respect to water flow and debris in the water. It's always a good idea to fish with a friend close by and use the buddy system. Be respectful of those fishing around you. Try to leave the area cleaner than when it was when you got there. Most of all take the time to enjoy not only the great fishery but the rest of what the great outdoors has to offer. From Point Breeze, New York the World Fishing Network's 2013 Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day, right here in Orleans County.
