Today is Monday October 31, 2011. The weather for the rest of this week and the beginning of next week looks very favorable for some great fishing opportunities. Walleye fishing on Glenwood Lake seems to be peaking with some good size Walleyes being taken. Both Bluegill and Crappie fishing is still good at the Waterport Bridge on Lake Alice but slowly dropping off. Perch fishing on Oak Orchard River is still spotty at best. Now for the really great news. Fishing for Brown trout has greatly picked up even though there are still good numbers of Chinook salmon in the mix. Add to that the fact that Steelhead are beginning their migration into our rivers and streams and fishing is very good to great. This is true of Sandy, Marsh and Johnson Creeks throughout their entire run and on Oak Orchard River all the way up to the dam. Some people with small boats are still trolling the lake right off Oak Orchard River with good success. Work should be wrapping up in the next few days at the Waterport Power Station which will just leave some clean-up activities in that area. For our fishing friends on the Eastern seaboard, the lights are on and the fishing is great---come join us. Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
