Orleans County

Lake Ontario

Today is Wednesday October 29, 2014. The warmer weather of the past few days will soon be but a memory as temperatures plummet with Saturday highs predicted to be only in the upper 30's. Next week temperatures will return to the low 50's for daytime highs. Even with low water flows fishing on the Oak has been nothing short of spectacular this past week. From the piers at the point all the way to the Waterport dam good catches of Chinooks, Browns and Steelhead/Rainbows are being reported. Low water flows in the other tributaries within Orleans County is causing fish to gather in the deeper pools waiting for better water flow to continue their journey to their spawning grounds. Also at the Oak Perch catches have been fair to good for the past week with occasional Northern Pike being taken. On Lake Alice fishing for Bluegill and Crappie is still on the slow side but Bass catches have maintained a fairly good level. Just a reminder that if you are going to fish on Brookfield Power's property on the Oak, familiarize yourself with the new Regulations, especially those concerning the wearing of PFD's. From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the 2013 World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
