Today is Wednesday August 27, 2014. The dredging crew is hard at work clearing the entrance to Oak Orchard Harbor. It looks like they might complete their work by the end of the week and be moving on to Wilson Harbor. On Lake Ontario the fishing has greatly picked up especially for the King salmon catch. All year classes are being reported in the 26 to 29 line area and from 40 to 90 feet down. It seems like the lure selection has returned to spoons for the most part but spinners and flies are still taking some fish. With cold water still prevalent on the inside waters, good fishing should remain on the mid waters for a while yet. On Oak Orchard River the catch has been mainly Bass and Panfish although some big Carp were taken on the Oak for the Fish Odyssey Derby. Sunday, August 31st is the final leg of the King of the Oak Derby with the crowning of the King and a picnic to follow. The Fall LOC Derby is in full swing and runs thru September 1st so there is still time to get in on the chance to win some great cash prizes. From Point Breeze on Lake Ontario, the 2013 World Fishing Network's Ultimate Fishing Town USA and the rest of Orleans County, Let's make everyday a great fishing day right here in Orleans County.
